Virginia Sass Obituary

Virginia A. (Belling) Sass

92, Appleton, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at her home. She was born Sept. 25, 1920 in Appleton the daughter of Elmer and Helen Belling. She was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Navy Hospital Corps at Bethesda, MD and Great Lakes Hospital where she met Donald Sass. The two married on Oct. 20, 1945 and Don preceded her in death on May 30, 1983. Ginny was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church and active in the Choir, Library Guild, a money counter and Sewing Lady for many years. She was a former member of the Pythian Sister Zenith Temple #31. She was also a member of the St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer at the hospital for several years working mainly on the orthopedic floor. Ginny said, "I was the happiest when I was helping others".

Ginny is survived by her three children: Michael (Sandra) Sass, Hilbert; Danny (Shelby) Sass, Wild Rose and Roberta (Robert) Stoffel, Appleton; Her Grandchildren that she loved and was very proud of: Scott (Lana) Sass, Brian Sass, Aaron (Kristin) Sass, Corey (Sara) Sass, Ericka (Jerry) Martinez, Andrea (Ted) Quick, Nathan (Julie) Stoffel and Aislinn Parson; Her wonderful great grandchildren that made her laugh: Tyler (Melissa) Sass, Ashley Sass, Brittany Sass, Halley Lau, Isabelle, Alexander, Isaac and Christian Martinez, Tiffany Paalman, Cole, Jake and Nora Stoffel, Natalie and Emery Sass; great great grandchildren: Caleb Sass and Hallie Sass; a sister, Carol (Fred) Weiss, IN; a brother, LeRoy (Joanne) Belling, Appleton; sister-in-law, Clarice Belling; special niece, Sue (Tom) King; special family friend, Cheri Sass; sewing club friends: Hildegaard and Marcey; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; sisters: Eunice (John) Water, Delores (Vincent) Truex and an infant sister Beverly Belling; brothers: Jack (Eileen) Belling, Donald (Francis) Belling and James Belling.

Funeral Services for Virginia will be held at 11 am Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Judy Deckert officiating. Friends may visit at the church Wed. from 9:30 am until the time of service. Interment will take place in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton with Military Honors.
