Brower, Robert J.
Robert John Brower, 85, Appleton, passed away at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center in Menasha, WI, on Wednesday, November 14th, 2012. He was born April 5th, 1927, in Oshkosh, WI, the second oldest of four children of Abraham and Ida (Spice) Brower. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was the loving husband of the late Lucille (Simpson) Brower. They were a devoted and happy team for almost 52 years, raising two daughters: Susan (James) Brown of Seattle, WA, and Sherry (Jeff) Untiedt of Mount Sidney, VA. Robert is also survived by his four beloved grandchildren, Robert (Caroline) Spaulding of Seattle, WA, Walter (Lisa) Spaulding of Indianapolis, IN, Andrew Untiedt of Mount Sidney, VA, and Megan Untiedt of Blacksburg, VA; and a brother, Arthur (Delores) Brower, Charlotte, NC.
Robert instilled in his grandchildren a great love of fishing and the outdoors. He worked at the Appleton Machine Shop, now Metso, for over 40 years, was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and long standing member of Riverview Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Idabelle (Carroll) Lemere and Rosemary Brower.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oakridge Gardens for their care and kindness. They would also like to thank all of Robert's wonderful neighbors for their friendship and generous assistance.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel.
