89, Appleton, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at Prairie Home in Menasha.
She was born July 9, 1923 in Appleton to the late Leo and Rose (Stier) Toonen. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1941 and Mercy School of Nursing in 1944. She then served in the U.S. Army as a nurse until the end of WWII. Dolores married Frank Bloomer on Sept. 18, 1948 in Appleton sharing 51 years together and raising 13 children. She worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital for over 30 years retiring in 1985 and continued nursing at Oak Ridge Gardens. She enjoyed growing African violets, time spent up north with family and the companionship of her many pets over the years. She will always be remembered for being a devoted mother, a dedicated nurse and a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She will be greatly missed by her loving children: Joe (Cora) Bloomer, Appleton; Mary Rose Bloomer, Appleton; Ann (James) Krueger, Appleton; Mike (Mary) Bloomer, Appleton; Susan Bloomer, CA; Frank (Kathy) Bloomer, Menasha; Margaret (Nick) Springer, Amherst Junction; Beth (Dan) Jandourek, Parrish, WI; Leo Bloomer, Appleton; Louise Grant, Appleton; Katie (Duaine) Hass, Orion, IL; Barb Lu Maye, Appleton and Marty Bloomer, Appleton; her brother, Paul (Frankie) Toonen; her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank in 2000; her brothers: George Toonen and Leon (Tuffy) Toonen and her granddaughter, Brianna Lu Maye.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Appleton with Rev. Andrew Kurz officiating with Military Honors to follow. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may visit the family at church on Saturday from 9am until the time of mass. A memorial fund is being established.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Prairie Home past and present and Heartland Hospice for their love, kindness, personal care and special hugs shown to Mom and her family.
