Merva J. Graichen, age 86, New London died on Sunday, December 9, 2012. She was born on January 21, 1926, in Town of Bear Creek. On February 14, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lloland Graichen. The Lord blessed them with four children. Lloland preceded her in death in 1999. Together they owned and operated Graichen Sanitation in New London for many years and then owned and operated New London Laundromat. Merva formerly worked at Campbell's and Christy's in New London. She was a member of the Waupaca Old Car Club, lifelong member of the DAV & VFW Auxiliary and a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa; where she served on the Altar Guild. She recently joined the Trinity Lutheran Church in New London. Merva enjoyed going to the Washington Senior Center to play bingo and she also enjoyed reading and doing word search puzzles.
Merva is survived by her children, Konnie (Bob) Gebhardt, Appleton; Darla Graichen, New London; Renee Graichen & fiancée, Terry Lind, New London; Lynn Graichen and special friend, Yami, New London. Eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, other relatives and friends also survive her.
Her parents, husband, four brothers, Ruben, Norman, Martin, and Robert and four sisters, Leona, Lorene, Ruth, and Edna preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Merva will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, New London, with Rev. Bil Sutlief and Rev. Tom Theama officiating. Visitation will be held at the church Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.
