Patrick F. Coughlin

89, Appleton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at his home. Pat was born January 30, 1923 in Winneconne, WI to the late James and Rose (Holtz) Coughlin. Pat served in the United States Army with the 10th Mountain Division in Northern Italy during World War II and was awarded a Bronze Star. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Juris Doctorate in 1951. Pat married Catherine Crowley in Beloit on September 20, 1952 and she preceded him in death in 1996. He practiced law in Appleton and Winneconne for 60 years retiring in 2001. The family would love to mention his various accomplishments in the community, but because of Pat's humility, they were told not to mention them.

He will be greatly missed and always admired by his children: Mary (Gregg) Graycarek, Catherine (James) Thomsheck, Ann Coughlin, Thomas (Ruthie) Coughlin and Sean (Cindy) Coughlin; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a sister, Katherine Jean Coughlin and a friend, Fran Bollenbeck.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Catherine; a son, Joseph; granddaughter, Hannah Coughlin; siblings: Marie, Rev. Martin, Edwin, Bernard, Eileen, John, Thomas, James and Rosemary.

A Mass of Resurrection for Pat will be held at 12 pm (Noon) on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at St. Bernard Catholic Church (1617 W. Pine St.) Appleton with Rev. Dennis Ryan officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may visit the family Saturday directly at church from 9 am until the time of Mass. Military Honors will be performed by VFW Post #2778.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Patrick and Catherine Coughlin Fund at the Fox Cities Community Foundation.
