Gaecke, Robert L.

Robert L. Gaecke, 66, Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Minneapolis and Green Bay, died Thursday, January 3, 2013, in Fort Myers. He was born October 31, 1946, in Green Bay to Edward and Elaine (Jorgensen) Gaecke.

He attended and graduated from UW-Oshkosh and later Ohio State University. He was Vice President of Integrity Insurance in Appleton before moving to Minneapolis where he was Vice President of Operations for MSI. He was then employed by Country Insurance until his retirement in 2005. Robert then moved to Fort Myers where he made his home. A savvy business man, he was known for his business sense and served as a mentor to many. He contributed to the development of many rules, regulations and laws on insurance company operations. During retirement he dedicated much of his time to serving on various Boards within the Colonial Country Club Community where he and his wife lived.

Robert married his best friend, Janet Cota, in Green Bay in 1984. He was an avid golfer and Packers fan. He enjoyed shooting pool, socializing, and living life. He had a larger than life personality and accompanying sense of humor - anyone who knew him could tell you a story or two. Robert was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; a son, Jeff (Jennifer) Gaecke, Green Bay; a daughter, Angela (Eric) Johannessen, Minneapolis; a son, Latt Walters, Colorado; three grandchildren, Alexander, Kendall, Rixa; his brothers, Don and Lee (Brenda) Gaecke, Green Bay; and his sister, Sue (Fran) Paulick, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Bill.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, WI from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. The Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home, with Bob Nooker officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
