Joe Landry passed away at his home in the Town of Menasha on Sunday, January 13, 2013, after a courageous battle with sarcoma. His wife and daughters were at his side. Joe was born on May 26, 1957, in West Allis, Wisconsin. He was the fourth of five children born to Joseph and Nancy Landry. Joe graduated from Nathan Hale High School in West Allis where he was an accomplished athlete in football and basketball. He went on to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, receiving his teaching degree in 1981. Joe had the privilege of being a member of two championship football teams, one in high school another in college. He taught special education at Chilton High School for two years, then at Oshkosh West High School for the remaining twenty-nine years of his career. Joe coached football for his first twenty-six years as a teacher. He made a difference in the lives of countless numbers of kids in the classroom and on the field. In addition to coaching students, he also enjoyed many years of coaching his daughters in soccer and basketball. Joe loved working with kids and coaching them in sports and it showed in his dedication and enthusiasm whenever he was involved in these activities. Joe loved nature and spending time at his family cottage in Eagle River, Wisconsin. He was passionate about fishing and hunting. Joe cherished the many hunting and fishing trips he took with his buddies. Joe will be dearly missed by his wife, Teri, and his daughters, Jamie, Jacqui and Sam. He is also survived by his parents, Joe and Nancy; his sisters, Chris, Cathy and Mary; his brother, Dave; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Frances Schludt, and Joseph and Mary Landry. Joe loved his dogs very much. He will be missed by his faithful companions, Tucker and Leo, and is glad to be reunited with his beloved Mick and Bailey. The family would like to thank the staff at ThedaCare at Home Hospice for their kind and compassionate assistance as we cared for Joe during his last days. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at FOX VALLEY UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST FELLOWSHIP, 2600 E. Philip Lane, Appleton.
