Barbara Ann Borkowski passed away at home in Tallahassee, Fla., unexpectedly on Jan. 17, 2013. Barbara was born in Appleton, Wis., on May 8, 1952 and graduated from Xavier High School in 1970. She earned a BSN from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh in 1974 and practiced nursing for over 30 years. She was fascinated by cardiology and was most proud of her time as a cardiac nurse at Texas Heart Institute and her position in the cardiac catheterization lab at Ormond Memorial Hospital.
Barbara was an avid movie buff and had an encyclopedic knowledge of actors, directors and their films. She loved driving her bright red VW Beetle down the canopy roads of Tallahassee and always had the radio set on WFSU. Barbara is survived by her husband of 24 years, Winston Borkowski; and her three loving daughters, Whitney and Courtney Borkowski of Tallahassee; and Lindsey Nelson (Jake), Tyrone, Penn.
Barbara also leaves behind her three beautiful granddaughters, Breanna, Kylie and Madyson Nelson. Barbara is also survived by her parents, John and Joan Schultz, Appleton, Wis.; sister, Cathy Rossmeissl (Matt), Mount Vernon, Wash.; brothers, Mark Schultz, New York City; and Mike Schultz (Julie), Arbor Vitae, Wis.
In 1982, Barbara was predeceased by her precious 2-year old daughter, Christine Ann Birch whose memory she cherished daily until her own passing. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer that donations in Barbara's memory be sent to Xavier High School, 1600 West Prospect Avenue, Appleton, Wisconsin, 54914 or WFSU-FM, 1600 Red Barber Plaza, Tallahassee, 32310.
A memorial service with brunch will be held at The Darboy Club (Heritage Room), N9695 County N, Appleton, Wis., on Sunday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m.
