Barbara Deeg Obituary

Deeg, Barbara Ann

Barbara Ann Mulry Deeg, age 67 of Menasha, died on Saturday, March 2, 2013 with her daughters and husband by her side. After her valiant fight with a troubling illness, and her strong will to live, she went peacefully and is in a serene, special place.

Barb was born on November 11, 1945 to the late Basil and Vera (Tyrrell) Mulry, the youngest of 11 brothers and sisters: Dick (Cil) Mulry; Jim (Karen) Mulry; Dan (Laura) Mulry; Don (Betty) Mulry; and Alice (Bob) Brandl, who survive her; as well as: Thomas; Jack; Jane; Leone; and Karen, who have preceded her in death. She is also the Godmother to Jacci, Kim and Sue, and an aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Known for her big brown eyes and contagious smile, Barb attended St. John's Catholic School in Little Chute, and then married Richard "Dick" Deeg on September 28, 1974. She worked at the Appleton Pharmacy for many years, and then retired after over 20 years in the Menasha School District as a paraprofessional.

Barb is survived by her husband, Dick; daughters: Tracey (Jim) Kast, and Jessica (fiancé Mike O'Neal) Deeg; granddaughter, Aubree Kast; brothers and sisters; in-laws: Butch (Kris) Deeg; Randy (Sandy) Deeg; Dave Deeg; Joe Deeg; Jack Weber; and Jerry Thompson. She is further survived by her Godchildren; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; aunts; uncles; special friends and past students. She was preceded in death by many of her brothers and sisters; and in-laws: Joyce and Clarence Deeg; and Rosemary Mulry; and a niece: Leanne Mulry.

A memorial service for Barb will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home, Bob Lydon officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. until the hour of service. A private family burial will be at a later date.

It was fun knowing Barb thru St. John Grade & High School. The last time I saw her was a year ago at our classmate lunch at Main Event. She still had that sassy smile that she had in high school, even though she had health issues. It was fun knowing that sassy girl. I'm sure she is having a fun time in heaven. We cannot be at the memorial because we are in Florida now.

I first met Barb in the Postal Station, behind the prescription counter at Appleton Pharmacy. I was the intern, she was "the boss". Barb taught me all about "over the counter" pharmacy. She was one of the most important people in my pharmacy career. Barb was absolutely tremendous at her job, everyone loved her. All of us at "Apple Farm" had tons of fun, worked hard and had a genuine love for one another.
Barb had the BEST family. The Mulry's were always a group that made everyone feel welcome. St Partricks day at Weenies in Little Chute with the Mulrys was the best.
A WONDERFUL lady has left us and we are all better for knowing her. My deepest sympathies to Dick, Tracey and all of the rest of the family.

Barb and I grew up together, graduated school together, belonged to the Little Chute Dutch Girl Drum and Bugle Corp. She stood up for our wedding. She was someone you liked knowing. Sadly, it's been years since I've seen Barb but what I remember the most about her was her ability to make people smile...Barb had that gift. I will remember her with fond memories. I'm sure she will be missed by many.

She was my roommate and my big sister at Appleton Pharmacy. She was a bridesmaid at our wedding. Such a lovely person! Love to all of her family. May the Holy Spirit be present with you and give you comfort in this time of mourning!

I first met Barb when she was a parapro with my son, Stephen. I will always remember her patience and understanding for Stephen, but also the gentle way she encouraged him to try harder to succeed. My sympathies to your family on your loss; she was a sweet woman who will be missed.

Mrs. Deeg, You have been a God send to our family. Your impression will last Chris his whole life. You would be proud to know he graduated college and looking to the future for grad school. He wouldn't have gotten this far without your help. God bless you in Heaven and your family and friends you have left behind.
