Diehl, George F.
George F. Diehl, 82 of Appleton, died Friday April 5, 2013. He was born in Appleton, February 22, 1931, son of the late Fred and Bernice (Wiegand) Diehl. George married Charlotte Darling on August 9, 1991.
George served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Bronze Star with valor, and the Purple Heart. George was severely wounded in battle, and while his physical wounds mostly healed, he was plagued all his life by the horrors of this Conflict. George loved being out in the woods and fields of Wisconsin. His passion was fishing, hunting, and trap shooting. George and Charlotte enjoyed roaming the woods and lakes together. He will be remembered by his family for his solitary ways. George will be remembered by Charlotte, as a great companion, teacher of nature, and a wonderful partner in life.
George is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Charlotte; his two sons, Scott (Laura), and Kevin Diehl; daughter, Shelley (Joseph) Dudas; three grandchildren, Julane Diehl, Leah Diehl, and Spencer Dudas; his five step-children, Kurt (Diana) Ehrhart, Jason (Lee Ann) Ehrhart, Brad (Gina) Ehrhart, Manon (Sean) Maschue, and Andrea (Michael) Napoli; and seven step-grandchildren, Gretchen, Colleen Ehrhart, Caitlin, Caroline, Steven Napaoli, Etienne, and Orion Ehrhart.
In keeping with George's wishes, a private family memorial service will be held.
