Robert J. La Plant, "Fireball", Kaukauna, was called home on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, with his family by his side, at Appleton Medical Center following a severe stroke. Bob was born on March 23, 1938 in Appleton, son of the late Rubin and Angeline (Fischer) La Plant. Bob graduated from Appleton West. He was employed at Badger Northland for 39 years. He then worked at Miller St. Nazianz until he retired. Bob loved to garden and shared his vegetables with all. He loved hunting and fishing with his family, going to the Holy Cross Tournaments where he won the outstanding "Fan Award", playing bingo and softball. He also loved to watch his children and grandchildren play sports and other activities. Bob was a country music fan and loved going to various concerts. He was an Army Veteran having served from 1956 to 1964. Bob was married to Dorothy Basler for 19 years.

He is survived by his 6 children: Sharon (Kevin) Johnson, Kaukauna and their children Christina and Chris, Jim (Barb), Black Creek, Dave (Pam), Freedom and their children, Patrick and Christopher Van Camp and Trevor La Plant, John (Lisa), Menasha and their children, Angie and Danielle, Susan (Keith) Thon, Kaukauna and their children Haydn and Kiarra, and Linda (Dan) Luneau, East Troy and their children McKoy and Bayler; 2 sisters: Theresa Van Derra, Kaukauna and Shirley Dew, Racine; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Harold and Gerald "Iky"; and a brother-in-law, Donald Van Derra.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 W. 7th St., Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received on FRIDAY (TODAY), April 12, 2013 at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., a Parish Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friends may call again directly at church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established. Full Military Rites will be conducted immediately following the services at the church.
