Dorothy Pommerening Obituary

Pommerening, Dorothy age 92, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2013, at Gardenview Assisted Living. She was born on October 29, 1920, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth (Bruch) Hett. She graduated from St. Mary High School in Menasha. Dorothy was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald E. Pommerening on July 23, 1943, at St. Mary, Menasha. Their marriage was blessed with six children. Dorothy enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and keeping up with current events. She enjoyed watching all sports, golf, basketball, Badger events; Don was a Packer season ticket holder and Dorothy became an avid fan. She was known for her letter writing through the years. Dorothy enjoyed the Christmas Season when she got to bake with her daughter and create care packages that they sent out to many people to enjoy. Dorothy and Don had a long running Saturday night date night, and loved trying new restaurants. They enjoyed traveling, often to Chicago to the theater and to horse racing events. Once the children were grown they traveled extensively and visited their sons in California. Dorothy loved spending time with her family, and felt her children were her greatest accomplishment. She enjoyed cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events.

Dorothy will be greatly missed by six children: Bruce of Ventura, CA; Randy of Oshkosh, Gary (Ruth) of Neenah, Jeffrey "Biddy" (Lu) of Menasha, Donna (Dan Fischer) of Neenah and Kurt Pommerening of Simi Valley, CA; eight grandchildren: Kentucky, Amy, Kate, Traci, Ryan, Elizabeth, Amanda and Christopher; three great-grandchildren: Addison, Holden and Lincoln; special friends: Sandy Pommerening, Dan Rohe and Carl Hett; she is further survived by many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and writing companions. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Don in 2008, four sisters: Josephine Rosenow, Marcella Miller, Viola Le Roux and Annabelle Dennis; one brother, Leo "Boy-Boy" Hett.

The family will be having private services in accordance to Dorothy's wishes. Inurnment will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park, Oshkosh.

The family would like to thank Dr. Curtis Baltz and his staff, and all the staff at Gardenview Assisted Living for all their wonderful care, compassion and support that was given to our mother. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Dorothy, I will miss you greatly. Who am I going to ask for what channel the Packers or the Brewers are on? God needed you more in heaven than we do here and now you are back with Don. Good bye Dorothy, it was a great pleasure knowing you.
