Jerrold J. Ratsch, 74 of Shawano and Summerfield, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 26, 2013 at the Villages Hospital in The Villages, Florida.
Jerrold was born June 8, 1938 in New London, WI, a son of the late Milan and Anita (Pace) Ratsch.
He attend the Shiocton Schools, graduating from Shiocton High School in 1956. After school, he attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where in 1961, he earned a Master's Degree in Dairy and Food Studies from the College of Agriculture. While at Madison, he was an active member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.
Jerry served his country by serving as a Lieutenant in the United States Army Transportation Corps.
On August 20, 1960, he was united in marriage to the former Ann Jansen at St Matthews Lutheran Church in Appleton, WI. Following their marriage the couple lived in many places because of Jerry's career. The couple made great friends and sustained many long term relationships which remain today.
Jerry was a self-employed businessman working in the insurance and investment business in Appleton, WI. He kept busy working for his agency, The Advisory Group, even in his so called
Jerry was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church of Shawano and also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Summerfield, Florida.
He was an avid duck and deer hunter and enjoyed golfing, throwing horse-shoes and bowling.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Ann of Shawano; two children, daughter, Julie (Stan) Buisman of Minneapolis, MN; and son, Jamey Ratsch of Appleton. He also has three grandchildren, Jacob of Florida, Ashley and Cody Adams of Minneapolis. He is further survived by a brother, Michael Ratsch of Appleton; a brother in-law, Sherman (Mary) Jansen of Neenah; and a sister in law, Monnie (Don) Jansen- Vick of Appleton. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jeffrey Ratsch in 2008.
A memorial service for Jerrold Ratsch will be held on Saturday, June 8, at 11 a.m. at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano. Pastor Ronald Raddatz will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery of Shawano. Relatives and friends may call at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Shawano Am Vets Post #10 will conduct Military Honors at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established for Resurrection Lutheran Church or for a scholarship fund at Shiocton High School in memory of Jerry.
