The Guest Book is expired.
Mary A. Hanagan, age 80, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Cherry Meadows after a short illness. Mary was born in Neenah on December 19, 1932 daughter to the late Arthur and Marie (Baldarz) Lornson. On June 21, 1952, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Hanagan. The couple enjoyed 56 years together until Ken's death in 2008. Mary met Ken when she was roller skating - he'd always put her skates on for her at the Armory in Appleton. Her greatest loves were Ken, their sons and their families. Years ago Mary worked at WT Grant Department Store at the Valley Fair Mall, but the majority of her life she was a dedicated wife and mother and took great pride in raising her family. In her younger years, she was very active in sports. Mary enjoyed dancing, playing her organ, and playing cards - especially solitaire. She also loved to kid around a lot and ride her scooter through town meeting new people.
She is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law: Kim and Nancy Hanagan, Appleton, Pat and Cheryl Hanagan, Greenville, Scott and Angie Hanagan, Black Creek, and Keith (special friend Annette) Hanagan, Appleton; 9 grandchildren: Andrea, Brittany, Brandon, Andrew, Tyler, Kory, Kyle, Ryan, and Mark; and 4 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Zachary, Alex, and Jacob.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ken, son Dean, grandson Trey, 3 sisters: Emily, Lois, and Mary Jane, and 6 brothers: Harold, Arthur Jr., Robert, Marvin, Donald, and James.
A funeral service will take place at 7 pm on Monday, July 15 at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel, 606 N. Oneida St. Appleton, with Deacon Maury Reed officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Monday from 4 pm until the time of service. Interment will take place at Rest Haven Cemetery in Menasha. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Birchwood Nursing Home in Neenah and also to the staff at Cherry Meadows in Appleton.
