Janet Hacker Obituary

Hacker, Janet L.

Janet L. Hacker, 78, of Tavares, Fla., formerly of Wisconsin, journeyed into the arms of the Lord on Monday, July 8, 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 4, 1935, in Scandinavia, Wis., to the late Richard and Emma (Swenson) Kitzman and graduated from Marion High School in 1952. Janet was united in marriage to Robert L. Hacker on July 3rd 1954 and recently celebrated their 59th anniversary. Janet worked many jobs in the early years the most important being mother to her and Robert's six children. She retired as head teller of the former Valley Bank in Menasha, Wis. Janet and Robert's happiest years of retirement were spent in the Wisconsin North woods at Island Lake in Hurley, Wis. Eventually the long, snowy Wisconsin winters prompted them to move to Tavares, Fla., where Janet lived out the remainder of her years with Robert always at her side. They were both active in the faith community of Adventure Christian Church, Tavares, where Janet worked in the church's thrift store. In addition to Robert, Janet is survived by her loving children, Jeanne (Nathan) Beyer, Menasha, Wis.; Robert (Nancy) Hacker, Kaukauna, Wis.; Kathy (Bruce) Meyer, Manawa, Wis.; Laura (Chris) Smith, Little Chute, Wis.; and Lisa (Michael) DeMent, New London, Wis. She is further survived by a brother, John "Jack" (Norma) Kitzman, Sun City, Fla.; sister, JoAnn Zeorn of Weyauwega, Wis.; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her loving son, Donald (surviving wife, Katrina).

Sympathy to all the members of your family. I enjoyed working with Jan at Tri-County and was saddened to hear about her passing. She was a wonderful woman!
