Age 92, died suddenly at St. Elizabeth Hospital on February 24, 2014
Mr. Connor was born at Twin Falls, Idaho, January 30, 1922 The son of the late Emmett and Edythe Connor of Boise, Idaho. He was educated at Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington. He served his country in a command status as an officer with the 90th Infantry Division, European Theater of Operations during World War II, and was in the Invasion of France having crossed Utah Beach during the D-Day Invasion of Europe.
Mr. Connor has been a resident of the Fox River area since 1962 but his ties with Appleton date to 1951 where he was associated with the Miller Electric Mfg. Co. in various sales and management positions until 1968.
After leaving Miller Electric, he was co-founder of a company that designed and built automatic arc welding systems and served as company President for 18 years until his retirement in 1985.
He was a member of St. Bernard's Parish, a life member of the American Welding Society, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the 90th Infantry Division Association. He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Auxiliary and was involved in volunteer work at St Elizabeth Hospital and at his church.
Survivors are his wife Jean Disken Connor, 7 children: Patricia (Ron) Kaiser, Carol Brown, Appleton, Mary (Pete) Kramer, Weyauwega, William (Diane) Connor, Mosinee, Brion (Renee) Bain Connor, Tucson, Arizona, Helen Greg (Sam) Mead, Waupaca, and Laura Connor, Hillsboro, 3 step-children Paula & Tom Mahoney, Randy Slageter, & Jim Slageter, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, 22 grandchildren & numerous great grandchildren
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert of Boise, Idaho, Daniel who was buried in Temple,Tx. & Effie, previous wife and mother of his children, 4 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday March 1, 2014 at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W Pine St. Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Full military honors will follow.
