Hovey, Raymond L.

Raymond Lewis Hovey "Ray", 70, Little Chute, passed away at Cherry Meadow Hospice on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on August 4, 1943, to Raymond Lewis Hovey Sr. & Gertrude (Pelz) Hovey in Portage, WI.

Ray attended the Chicago School of Drafting & Tool Design. He held many supervising positions throughout his career.

Ray built furniture and enjoyed spending his time creating other woodworking projects. He collected coins, built various models. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and gardening with his wife.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Reinke Hovey; stepchildren, Christy (Eric) Senf, Oakdale, MN, and Michael Brochtrup, Appleton; step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Bossert, Denver, CO, Lucy Bossert, St. Paul, MN, Edan Senf, Oakdale, MN, Rayne Senf, Oakdale, MN, Vanessa (Bryon) Schaller, Brown Deer, WI, and their daughter, Bella, Olivia (Justin) Gohschalk, Appleton, and their son, Eli, Grace Brochtrup, Denver, CO, Aubrie Brochtrup, Appleton; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Pat) Reinke, New Berlin, WI, Jim (Barb) Reinke, Kaukauna, John (Barb) Reinke, West Bend, WI, Don & Tom Reinke, Kaukauna, Michael Reinke, Clintonville, WI; sisters-in-law, Sheila Wilquet, North Carolina, and Cherryl Ehle, Lynchburg, VA.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Howard Hovey; sister-in-law, Roberta Vanden Eng; and stepson, William Brochtrup.

Per Ray's request, there will be a service at a later date. Newcomer Funeral Home, Green Bay, is assisting the family.

I have very fond memories of Ray. My favorite is that he would call himself a Jackpine Savage when he would be at the cabin. His easy going way he approached life and his acceptace of all will be always my memory of him. My deepest symathy to all family members both near and far.
