George Wilber Obituary
George F. Wilber, age 89, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday morning October 1, 2014. He was born on August 19, 1925 in Oshkosh a son of the late Franklin and Alta (Sturm) Wilber. George served his country in the US Army soon after WW II. He married the former Marcella Rose Otradovec on May 26, 1951. She preceded him in death on October 19, 1997. Together they had seven children, Thomas (Susan) Appleton, Marilyn (Mike) Roberts of Oshkosh, Steven and friend Val Mulroy of Hortonville, Judy Wilber, Mary (Larry) Dvoratchek, Antioch, IL, Genevieve (John) Haidvogl of Oshkosh, Patricia (Kirk) Miller, Valrico, Florida. He is further survived by a brother, Maynard Wilber of Shawano; two sisters, Beverly Miller of Green Bay and Beulah (Verlyn) Spreeman of Suring; twelve grandchildren, Angela, Crystal, Brandy, Michael, Ann, Amy, Paul, Kelly, Christopher, Aaron, Chance, and Madison; five great-grandchildren, Alex, Anna, Ashlyn, Abbie and Ethan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle; a sister, Barb Miller; six brothers, Earl, Franklin Jr., Dave, Gene, Bernard and Roger. George will be remembered for greatly enjoying coaching his daughters softball teams and for his Phd. in B.S.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for George on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Peter Catholic Church, 435 High Ave. in Oshkosh with the Rev. James Jugenheimer as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow in Lake View Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of visitation and celebration of his life will be held on Friday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr. in Oshkosh. A Parish Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. A memorial fund is being established.
