Esther Walling Obituary

Walling, Esther K.

Esther Kolb Walling, age 76, passed away in her home with her family at her side February 1, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. Esther was born April 7, 1940 in Rushford Township, Wisconsin to the late Frank and Lavon (Buchanan) Kolb.

Esther was an active member of the community. She passionately represented the members of the community as town Chairwoman and state Assemblywoman before becoming a realtor. She enjoyed her volunteer duties at the St. Gabriel library, worked in polling locations for elections, and actively joined the fight for Town of Menasha to become the Village of Fox Crossing. She also compassionately served on the board for St. Margaret Mary Cemetery. Esther enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her Husband Garth, Daughters: Nicole (Bill) Smith and Nancy Walling; her three grandchildren: Michelle Perket, Ryan Perket (Derek), and James Rau; her three siblings: Mae (Lee) Kottke, Pearl (Arthur) Quast, and Larry (Carol) Kolb; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The Memorial Service for Esther will be held at 1 pm on Friday, February 24, 2017 at ST. GABRIEL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 900 Geiger St, Neenah, WI 54956. There will be a time of visitation from 11 A.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the American Cancer Society - https://www.cancer.org.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff from ThedaCare-at-Home for their loving care and compassion, as well as Heart of the Valley Crematory for the compassionate care they provided.

To my Uncle Garth, Nancy, Nicole and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. As a child I looked up to Aunt Esther for her beauty and poise. As an adult I respected her for her work ethic. I have many good memories of our family trips, camping at Green Lake and our holiday celebrations.
Love,
Shelley

Esther taught me the most solid, faithful lessons of public service. She never compromised her integrity. I still remember and believe such wise advice, including how to deal with lobbyists. She taught me, and I still believe, when meeting with lobbyists, "more than a cup of coffee is graft"..She never betrayed the Citizens that put sincere and valid trust in her..Well done good and faithful lady..We will meet again <

I only knew Esther from mass at St. Gabriel's, she always had a smile on her face as she handed you a bulletin. I knew she was kind because she did the same smile every time. If all of us would just smile at each other what a world this would be.
Thanks Esther!
