FARBO, ELEANOR M. (DeGORI) - Sewickley  
FARBO ELEANOR M. (DeGORI) A lifelong resident of Sewickley, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at West Hills Health and Rehab. She was born and raised in Sewickley, daughter of the late Antonio and Giovanna (Scalercio) DeGori. On March 30, 1993, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, James Farbo. Loving mother of James R. Farbo of Moon Township and the late infant Baby James; cherished grandmother of James Michael and Matthew James Farbo; loved sister of Elizabeth Rhodes of Imperial; and sister-in-law of Alice DeGori of Sewickley. She was preceded in death by siblings, Cecelia Barone, Rachel Brunette and Norman DeGori. She was a very faithful member of St. James Church and a graduate of Sewickley High School. She had retired from Quaker Valley Schools. Eleanor was proud to be from Sewickley, loved to walk in the Village and enjoyed flower gardening. Visitation Sunday 2-7 p.m. at COPELAND'S SEWICKLEY, 702 Beaver St., where Prayers will be recited on Monday at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10 a.m. at St. James Church, Rev. Thomas J. FIDISHUN SISTER M. MARCIA (ELEANOR), O.S.F. Sister M. Marcia, age 81, a member of the School Sisters of St. Francis, United States Province, in her 58th year of Profession, died on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, in Bethlehem, PA. Sister entered the community from St. Michael Parish, Tresckow, PA in 1956 and professed her first vows in 1957 in Mount Assisi Convent Chapel in Pittsburgh, PA. In her early years as a professed sister, she attended classes at Mount Mercy College in Pittsburgh, PA, now known as Carlow University and from Holy Family College, Philadelphia, PA. During her years of ministry, Sister Marcia taught the primary and middle grades in many parish schools in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Jersey, where our sisters ministered. From 1985-88, she was the principal of SS. Cyril and Methodius School in Clifton, NJ. After more than 30 years in grade schools, Sister Marcia spent 14 years teaching children in preschool and after school care. Her last years of active ministry from 2004-13 were spent at Monocacy Manor helping as a clerical aid in the finance office. In her spare time, Sister Marcia enjoyed working on crafts, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and reading. She will be missed by the sisters, her family and the caregivers at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem, PA where she spent her last two years. Sister Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Veronica (Kozel) Fidishun; brothers, Bernard, Vincent, Patrick; and her sister, Ethel Sofianek. She is survived by her religious community; her brothers, Joseph and Thomas; her sister, Elizabeth Ceol; and her nieces and nephews. Calling Hours will be from 3 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2015, and on Monday, April 20, 2015, from 10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Monocacy Manor, Bethlehem, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, Monocacy Manor. Arrangements have been made by CONNELL FUNERAL HOME, Bethlehem, PA. FLEMING, JOSEPH W. - Cranberry Twp.  
FLEMING JOSEPH W. Age 87, of Cranberry Twp., formerly of McCandless Twp., died on Monday, April 13, 2015, in Sherwood Oaks. Beloved husband of Brenda (Mimi Goetz); loving father of John A., and James C.; doting grandfather of Morgan and Marissa; he is survived by his siblings, Ruth (Van Kirk), Martha (Murray), and Jay; and was preceded in death by his brother, William. Joe was born in West Newton, PA and was a graduate of West Newton High School in 1946 and Penn State in 1951. He worked as a chemical engineer for Koppers Co. for over 30 years at various chemical plants across the eastern U.S. During the Korean war, he was in the Chemical Warfare section of the Army from 1953 until 1956 at the Army's Edgewood Arsenal in Maryland. While in the Army he obtained his private pilot's license. He holds several patents granted to him personally for chemical and mechanical processes. Joe was an avid bridge player developing his own bidding system. No visitation please. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on April 25, 2015, at Sherwood Oaks. FERGUSON MARY ANNE (HEYWARD) Professor Mary Anne Ferguson died Thursday, April 9, 2015, at her home in Pittsburgh, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Stephen Carr. She was born July 25, 1918, in Charleston, SC, daughter of William and Anne (Walker) Heyward. She lived in Asheville, NC for her high school years, received her B.A. and M.A. degrees from Duke University, and her Ph.D. from Ohio State University. Both she and her husband, Alfred R. Ferguson (who died in 1974), were professors of English at Ohio Wesleyan University, Ohio State, and as founding professors at U. Mass/Boston. She was one of the pioneers of the field of Women's Studies, working on national commissions, curricular projects, and as editor of a path-breaking anthology, Images of Women in Literature (1973-1991). She leaves three daughters and what she liked to call "sons-in-love," Margaret Ferguson and David Simpson of Davis, CA, Jean and Stephen Carr of Pittsburgh, and Lucy and Phil Tenenbaum of Rutland; seven grandchildren, Nate and Kerrie Allen, Maggie (Carr) and Paul Larkin, Suzanna Ferguson, Ruthie Tenenbaum, Julia Carr, and Marianne and Christina Simpson; and two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Nell Allen. Memorial Services will be in Pittsburgh, PA at Calvary Episcopal Church, and ashes will be buried in Scituate, MA with Alfred's, on what would have been his 100th birthday. FRUM JOYCE E. Age 58, of McKeesport, died Wednesday, April 15, 2015. She was born in McKeesport on January 23, 1957, to the late Charles and Velma Kansa Eckersberg. She was a waitress then hostess at the Youghiogheny Country Club for about 20 years and was an active member of the West Side United Methodist Church. She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Frum; brother, Charles (Lisa) Eckersberg of North Huntingdon; sisters, Judy (Cliff) Crevar of McKeesport and Janice (Joseph) Bradley of North Huntingdon; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. FINK OFM CAP, FR. PHILIP - Pittsburgh  
FINK FR. PHILIP, OFM CAP Died on April 11, 2015, at St. Augustine Friary in Lawrenceville. He was 65. Born to James and Agnes (Krieger) Fink on April 3, 1950, he was baptized at St. Wendelin Church in Pittsburgh and later attended the parish elementary school. He is survived by two brothers, James of Pittsburgh, PA, and Richard of Wesley Chapel, FL. Phil entered St. Fidelis High School Seminary in Herman, PA, in 1964, and was admitted to the college seminary in 1968, graduating in 1973 with an undergraduate degree in pastoral counseling. He entered the Capuchin novitiate on August 22, 1970, and professed his first vows as a friar on August 25, 1971. Father Phil was ordained a priest on August 27, 1977. He studied theology at the Washington Theological Union in Washington, DC, earning a Master's degree in 1977. Father Phil pursued his lifelong interest in psychology at the University of Pittsburgh, Loyola University of Maryland in Baltimore, and the University of Denver. After a one year doctoral internship at the University of Buffalo, he earned his Doctorate in Psychology. He was a member of several national associations of pastoral counselors. For the better part of his life as a Capuchin friar, Father Phil trained young men for religious life and the priesthood. At various times, he was on the faculty of St. Fidelis High Seminary, Borromeo College in Wickliffe, OH, Director of postulants in Rochester, PA, and served twice as Director of the novitiate at St. Conrad's Friary in Allison Park, PA. Father Phil served as Provincial Minister for four years, beginning in 1994. In 1999 he was assigned to serve as chaplain at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Mt. Gallitzin Academy and Villa St. Joseph in Baden, PA. In 2009 the superiors of Capuchin friars in the United States, Canada and Australia turned to Father Phil to serve as the Director of the North American and Australia Capuchin Conference novitiate. In 2011 Father Phil was named local superior and Senior Health Care Coordinator at St. Augustine Friary in Lawrenceville. For several years he helped wIth retreats for Rachel's Vineyard Ministries, helping women with the emotional and spiritual pain of an abortion. Father Phil was an accomplished psychologIst and teacher, who excelled in guiding young men in vocational discernment. A kind and generous man, Father Phil was known as a hard worker, willing to undertake any task, great or small, and undeterred even during three battles with cancer. Visitation and viewing will be at St. Augustine Friary, 221 36th Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15201, on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. A prayer vigil will be held at 8 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Angels Church, 240 37th Street.
