AHL Jr., CHARLES EMMERLING - Pittsburgh  
AHL CHARLES EMMERLING, Jr. Age 97, departed peacefully May 8, 2015, of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Sloan Ahl, in 2011. He is survived by his three children, Anne Ahl Werth of Pittsburgh, David Sloan Ahl of Rye, NY, and Barbara Ahl Watkins of Boyne City, MI; four grandchildren; and one great- granddaughter. Chuck Ahl was born on February 16, 1918, and grew up in the Highland Park section of Pittsburgh. He attended Fulton Elementary School and graduated from Peabody High School with a Post Graduate year at the University School. In 1940, he received an engineering degree from Lehigh University. At Lehigh, he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Chuck served in the United States Navy in the Western Pacific in WWII. He was the Navigator on the USS Lucidor (AF-45), a cargo ship which made it safely through "Halsey's Typhoon," which sank three U.S. destroyers. Chuck's business career was in refractory sales to the steel industry. After training as a metallurgist in the open hearth furnaces at the Homestead Works of USS in Pittsburgh, he was national sales manager for the Globe Brick Company, a refractory company based in Newell, WV, which was acquired by Combustion Engineering. Chuck was active in his church and community. He served on the board of the Allegheny Cemetery and the Pittsburgh Field Club. He was President of the School Board of the Fox Chapel Area School District and the Lehigh Club of Pittsburgh. He was as an usher and on the Session at the Third Presbyterian Church. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at 10 a.m. at the Third Presbyterian Church, 5701 Fifth Ave. and S. Negley, Pittsburgh, PA 15232, followed by a celebration. ALOISE LEONARD P. Age 85, of Moon Township since 1986, formerly of Bethel Park, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Heritage Valley Sewickley. He was born in the Bronx, NY on June 12, 1930, to the late Antonio and Maria (Solo) Aloise. Beloved husband for 63 years of the late Eva Mae (Rodkey) Aloise; loving father of Anthony Aloise (Sharlene) of Villa Hills, KY, Leonard Aloise (Janice) of Fallston, MD, Elizabeth Mattina (Michael) of West Chester, OH, Catherine Bullock (Paul) of McKees Rocks, and Michael Aloise (Cheryl) of Allison Park; cherished grandfather of Anthony, Jr. (Christy), Andrew, Christopher, Bethany (Brian), Neil, Ross (Brooke) Sarah, Matthew, Grace, Kelley (Dan), Cara, Jennifer (Ed), and Terri (Shawn); great-grandfather of Lilly, Tony, Cason, Kirra, Chase, Colin, Myles, Dylan and Devan; brother of Catherine Piliero, New Rochelle, NY. Leonard was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church and a Korean War veteran of the Army. He retired from a career in Pharmaceutical Sales with Burroughs Wellcome and was a volunteer for many years at Sewickley Valley Hospital in the Emergency Dept. He traveled the world with Eva and they made friends wherever they went. Visitation is Friday 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the COPELAND MOON TWP. FUNERAL HOME, 981 Brodhead Rd. Please meet at St. Margaret Mary Church on Saturday for Mass at 9:30 a.m. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. BARTON CLIFFORD A. Age 86, formerly of Pleasant Hills, passed peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 2, 1929, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Norman C. and Violet (Linepensel) Barton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Janey Dick Barton; and his brother, Norman C. "Jim" Barton, Jr. Clifford was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. He is survived by his four children, Robert (Laura) Barton, Dick (Rhodora) Barton, Jeff (Susie) Barton, and Leslie Barton; loving grandfather of six, Kelly (Jamie) McLeland, Benjamin Barton, Kristen (Ethan) Eyler, Margaretta Barton, Laura Barton, and Clifford A. Barton II; and great-grandfather of seven. He enjoyed a long and successful career in the banking industry culminating as Chairman and CEO of US Bancorp in Johnstown, PA. Cliff was an active member of the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church for over 65 years. He was also a member of the Pleasant Hills – Guthrie Lodge #509 and the Royal Order of Jesters. A Masonic Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2015, in Fellowship Hall of The Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church, 199 Old Clairton Road, Pleasant Hills, PA 15236, followed by a Celebration of Cliff's Life 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary with Rev. Mark Whitsel officiating. A private entombment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery. BAUMGARTEN RICHARD W. Age 70, unexpectedly on Monday, August 31, 2015, of Brentwood. Beloved husband of 49 years to Kathleen L. (Brethauer); loving father of Tammy Baumgarten, Beth (Lt Col John) Heidenreich and Jason Baumgarten; proud Pap of Patrick (Katie Emmerling) Gentile, SrA Matthew Gentile and Emily and Evan Heidenreich; son of the late Francis and Rosalia Baumgarten; brother of Frank (Lenora) and Ronald (Sandy) Baumgarten and the late Mary Ann (Jim) Breslin; brother-in-law of retired MSgt William (Mickey Ouellett) Brethauer; also survived by many nieces and nephews; also will be missed by his loving dog, Snicker. Rich was a longtime employee of Packaging Corporation of America. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army.
