AHL Jr., CHARLES EMMERLING - Pittsburgh  
AHL CHARLES EMMERLING, Jr. Age 97, departed peacefully May 8, 2015, of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Sloan Ahl, in 2011. He is survived by his three children, Anne Ahl Werth of Pittsburgh, David Sloan Ahl of Rye, NY, and Barbara Ahl Watkins of Boyne City, MI; four grandchildren; and one great- granddaughter. Chuck Ahl was born on February 16, 1918, and grew up in the Highland Park section of Pittsburgh. He attended Fulton Elementary School and graduated from Peabody High School with a Post Graduate year at the University School. In 1940, he received an engineering degree from Lehigh University. At Lehigh, he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Chuck served in the United States Navy in the Western Pacific in WWII. He was the Navigator on the USS Lucidor (AF-45), a cargo ship which made it safely through "Halsey's Typhoon," which sank three U.S. destroyers. Chuck's business career was in refractory sales to the steel industry. After training as a metallurgist in the open hearth furnaces at the Homestead Works of USS in Pittsburgh, he was national sales manager for the Globe Brick Company, a refractory company based in Newell, WV, which was acquired by Combustion Engineering. Chuck was active in his church and community. He served on the board of the Allegheny Cemetery and the Pittsburgh Field Club. He was President of the School Board of the Fox Chapel Area School District and the Lehigh Club of Pittsburgh. He was as an usher and on the Session at the Third Presbyterian Church. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at 10 a.m. at the Third Presbyterian Church, 5701 Fifth Ave. and S. Negley, Pittsburgh, PA 15232, followed by a celebration. ALIOTO, FRANK J. - Glenshaw  
ALIOTO FRANK J. Age 92, of Shaler Twp., peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2015. He was the loving father of Frank (Julie) Alioto of Brookline and Elaine (Tony) Falleroni of Mettmann, Germany; and the grandfather of Eric and Laura Alioto and Gina Falleroni; he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine "Gerry" in 1985; he is survived by his siblings, Samuel, Rosemarie Pawlawski, Antonette Sonavec and Vito; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph, Michael, Nunzio, Mario, Anne Balestrino and Anthony. Frank was the founder and proprietor of Alioto's Pizza in Etna until 1986. He was a proud WWII veteran for 449th AAA C-Battery and organized many reunions over the years. He was a lifelong Frank Sinatra fan, he enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach, bowling and in his later years karaoke. His piercing blue eyes, warm smile and love of singing will remain with us forever. Friends will be received Thursday 7-9 p.m. Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the BOCK FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. BELLIOS VICKIE Devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother died peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2015. Born in Tripoli, Greece and raised in Naplion, Greece, Vickie was a young radio personality before immigrating to the United States to marry Gust Bellios. Vickie had three boys, Phillip, George and Chris, born in Ashtabula, OH, before moving to Erie, PA with her husband and sons. In Erie, she was a homemaker, seamstress and baker. In 2000, Vickie and Gust moved to Pittsburgh, PA. Vickie was passionate about her faith, and a member of several Greek Orthodox Churches in Pittsburgh including her home parish Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in the North Hills. She was a member of the church choir for 20 years, as well as the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, where she served as president. Her infectious smile, bigger than life personality and huge heart were known to so many. She was a passionate volunteer for almost any organization or event. She gave her time at the soup kitchen in Erie for over ten years. She also volunteered at hospitals in Erie and Pittsburgh for a total of 20 years. She had a fierce love of God and family and she especially loved her three boys. She was also a loving grandmother and relished the role as she showered them with affection. She is survived by her husband, Gust; and sons, Phillip (Toula), George (Elaine) and Chris (Karen); as well as her grandchildren, Christopher, Colin, Maive, Maria and Constantine. Family and friends will be received at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, INC., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street ( freyvogelfuneralhome.com ) on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, and Thursday, July 2, 2015, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Trisagion Service will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m. Funeral Friday, July 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 985 Providence Boulevard. Family and friends will also be received at the church on Friday, July 3, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral. BETZ JOSEPH R. "JOE" Age 63, of East McKeesport, died on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A son of the late John "Jack" and Josephine "Jo" (Casey) Betz; beloved husband of Peggy Betz; dear father of Gene (Rhonda) Zuro; grandfather of Samantha, Johnathan, and Nicholas Zuro; brother of Patricia "Pat" (Tim) Dalton and Jack (Toni) Betz; son-in-law of Angie Pash; brother-in-law of Barbara Socci; also survived by nieces and nephews. CARROZZA, LENA C.  
CARROZZA LENA C. A life-long resident of Bridgeville, PA, passed away on June 30, 2015, surrounded by family. Born in 1921, Lena worked at her parents' local produce store on Washington Ave. before earning a business degree from Robert Morris College. In 1958, Lena began her 28-year career at Ryan Homes, where she served as Executive Secretary to Mr. Ed Ryan and other members of the Ryan Home Family. Lena's proudest accomplishments were rooted in her love and devotion to her family, friends, and community. In 2013, she was a founding sponsor of the Flight 93 National Memorial, and devoted countless hours to the town she called home, serving as a Director of the Bridgeville Historical Society. She practiced her love for knitting as a member of the Holy Child Parish Prayer Shawl group. Lena loved without need or expectation, bringing an immeasurable amount of happiness to those in her life. The wisdom she shared and selflessness she showed will live on in the hearts of all those with whom she crossed paths. Her spirit is carried on by her surviving sister, Dolores Palumbo; six nieces and nephews; and nine great- nieces and nephews; and an extended family of relatives and friends from every walk of life. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the WARCHOL FUNERAL HOME INC., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 1 p.m. at Holy Child Parish. COSTELLO MAUREEN A. (KENNEDY) Age 74, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior suddenly after heart surgery on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, in Portsmouth, VA. She was born on December 6th, 1940, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Donald Kennedy and Cecille Cornell Kennedy. Maureen attended St. Peter's Grade School and Allegheny High School. In 1959, she married Edward C. Costello. Maureen was a Nurse for over 40 years, working at Allegheny General Hospital, and in later years for various Private Duty nursing assignments. Preceded in her passing were her parents, Donald and Cecille Kennedy; sister, Patricia Kennedy Ricciardelli; husband, Eddie "Pie" Costello; daughter, Dianna L. Costello Isasky; granddaughter, Stacey L. Holste Virgilli. She is survived by her daughter, Maureen A. Costello Holste; son, Marty D. Costello; four grandchildren, Edward J. Holste, Jr., Dr. Ryan P. Holste, Thomas Magana, Alexis Isasky; seven great- grandchildren, Alyssa N. Virgili, Kaitlyn M. Virgili, Cage M. DeBruyne, Emily-Jean N. Holste, Edward J. Holste III, Landon P. Holste, Adelyn M. Holste. Maureen was known for her quick wit, humor, and great memory, strong work ethic and determination. Maureen resided with her daughter, Maureen in VA, and will be taken home to Pittsburgh which will be her final resting place. Services will be privately held in VA and in Pittsburgh, on July 3, 2015, at her daughter's gravesite. DIAMOND JUDITH E. Age 67, of Warrendale, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, while under the care of Cranberry Place. Born on December 29, 1947, in Verona, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Delsie (Kauffman) Singhose. Judy was known to always put others before herself. She treasured baby-sitting her grandchildren, and was fond of road trips and going on cruises with her family. Judy was also an excellent cook and liked going to the casino. She loved nature and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. Judy will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Richard Diamond; her three children, Michael (Christine) Allan of Slippery Rock, Mark Allan of Warrendale, and Richelle (Chris) Annarumo of McCandless Township; her three grandchildren, Kaymin Allan, Dustin Annarumo and Cody Allan; her sisters, Margaret (John) Kobert, Nancy (Mike) Black, Jean Loudy and Cheryl Ann Singhose; and her former husband, Chester Allan. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by five siblings, Robert Singhose, Everett "Sonny" Singhose, Jr., Delsie Wolfe, Charlie Singhose and Olive Singhose. Judy's family will welcome friends on Monday, July 6, 2015, from 3 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6 p.m. at the GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME, INC., 130 Wisconsin Avenue, Cranberry Township.
