Of West Mifflin, on January 24, 2013, age 89. Beloved husband of 64 years to the late Agnes (Olack) Asmonga; loving father of James (Milly) Asmonga and Joyce Asmonga; brother of the late Mitzi Kolodziej; grandfather of Jimmy Asmonga and Tracy (Jason) Myers. Friends and family will be received at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK -GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be Monday, 10:30 a.m. at Resurrection Church, West Mifflin. Albert was a veteran of WWII serving in the Coast Guard. In High School he played soccer and after high school his passion turned to bowling. He was well known for his love of bowling. He had his first 300 Game in 1979 and was inducted into the Greater Pittsburgh Bowling Hall of Fame in 1987 and in 1988 he was awarded "Athletic Person of the Year" by the Steel Valley Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Jednota Bowling League, the GCU Bowling League and he was also the secretary/treasurer of the Homestead Slavs League and Pido Bowling League. He was a Director for the Greater Pittsburgh Ten Pin Association and in 1991 Albert and his son Jim were City Doubles Champions. He was also an avid golfer and was a member of the GCU Golf League. Although he was active in many bowling and golf leagues he was also active in his community. He was retired from US Steel Homestead works where he was a chemist, he served as the President for 30 years for the Homestead Slavs Club, he was a former officer of the Mifflin Social Club, member of the Lions Club, a member of Resurrection Church and a photographer for the Valley Mirror.
