Of Turtle Creek, died Sept. 23, 2013, of complications of rheumatoid arthritis. Born Anna Tarantini in Lettopalena, Italy, she came to the U.S. at age 9 and graduated from high school in Richard, West Virginia near Morgantown. Her eldest brother introduced her to the Borrelli family, also from Lettopalena, and their son, Joe. Ann began writing to Joe before his service in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II and their relationship blossomed. They were married in April 1946 and settled in Turtle Creek where they lived and raised their five children. Ann, a lifelong homemaker, also worked in the cafeteria of Turtle Creek High School (later Woodland Hills East Junior High) for more than 30 years. Ann was an extraordinary cook whose everyday meals were memorable to her family, many friends and visitors whom she always welcomed to her table. Ann is survived by her children, Joanne (Joseph) Steller of Washington, DC, Linda (Donald) Corey of San Diego, Joseph (Deborah) of Vestal, NY, Patricia Santercangelo of Turtle Creek and Alex (Patti) of Charlotte, NC. She was beloved grandmother to 13, including her grandson, Anthony Santercangelo, who shared caretaking of Ann with his mother, Patricia, in recent years. Ann also was a loving great-grandmother to five children and friend to nieces, nephews, neighbors, and the many young people she served in the school cafeteria, all of whom she loved.
