Age 89, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Ross Township, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014, while under the care of the Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford. Born February 23, 1925, in Pittsburgh, his parents, John A. Lhota, Jr. and Mary K. (Oakley) Lhota, instilled in him the strong work ethic and faith in God that carried him throughout his life. Charles was a veteran of World War II, a 35 year employee of Mellon Bank, a member of the St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Cranberry Township and a lifelong member of the VFW in Bellevue. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elsie C. (Rausch) Lhota, whom he married on October 16, 1948; and his two children, Patricia A. Otto and Charles A. Lhota. His wife was the anchor of his life and the caregiver whose strength never failed him. His children were the highlight of his accomplished life. They are the symbol of his strength, and while they will grieve his passing, they know he truly loved them both. He was the beloved grandfather of Benjamin C. Otto and Charles T. Lhota; and father-in-law to Gary R. Otto and Karen A. Lhota. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Margaret Ann Lhota; and his brother, Jack Lhota. A Mass of Christian Burial followed by Military Honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, with Father John Gallagher, celebrant. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ross Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in Charles' honor in support of The Otto Family Charitable Trust, C/O The Grandview Group, 220 E. Grandview Avenue, Zelienople, PA 16063. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Charles' family at:
