On Monday, February 18, 2013, age 90 of Wilmerding. Daughter of the late Antonio and Michelina Travisano; beloved sister of Philomena (the late john) Palmieri, Nick (Mary), Peter (Connie), Paul (Sue), Joseph (Linda), Val, and the late James Travisano; numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends received at ALFIERI FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 Marguerite Ave., Wilmerding 15148 (412) 824-4332, on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. services in the funeral home Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jude the Apostle at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Good Shepherd Cemetery. Chris retired from Westinghouse Air Brake Co. with 46 years of service, starting with the war effort (WW II) and rose to a Manager-Storeroom. Known for her lunch time jogging (before it became popular) from Plant to Home. Her interests were many and varied; was a lifetime member of St. Jude the Apostle Church (previously St. Aloysius), member of the Rosary Society and previous member of the Choir; was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America; Golden Agers Group; Charter Member of the Wilmerding Historical Society, the Wilmerding Preview Assoc., George Westinghouse Museum, where she served as a docent. Loved polkas, dancing, singing Italian and American songs. Self- taught, she spoke and wrote Italian fluently, giving freely as an interpreter for Italian correspondents for many people. Loved crafts (making and giving away) and sewing clothes and dolls, cooking holiday traditions and Sunday dinners were her passion. They all loved "Aunt Chris' sauce." Always with a deep love and caring for family-she will be truly missed.
