DOWLER CLIFFORD E.
100, of Indian Cove, Guilford, CT, died peacefully at Apple Rehab Center in Guilford, CT on January 28, 2013. He was the husband of the late Mildred E. (Brown) Dowler, his wife of 69 years. Cliff was born in Midway, PA on January 24, 1913, the fifth son of Robert E. Dowler and Viola M. Weaver. A good athlete, Cliff attended Slippery Rock State College to study physical education, but left after one year to take a job with Procter and Gamble on Staten Island, NY. During the war and at the request of the company, Cliff took courses in time-study engineering (efficiency expert) at Pratt Institute. He remained with P&G until his retirement in 1972, when he and Mildred moved back to Midway and the house where Mil was born. Cliff volunteered at the McDonald food bank and both were active in the Midway senior's program and their church. In December 2002, they moved to Connecticut to begin a new chapter of their life. Cliff is survived by his son, Larry; daughter-in-law, Barbara Pine of Indian Cove; and by his brother-in-law, Elmer Brown of McDonald, PA; and many nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
