EDWARD G. GIROVSKY(1928 - 2013)

84, of Lindsey Hollow Rd., Corry, PA, died on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at his home. He was born on July 21, 1928 in Duquesne, PA, a son of the late Michael and Ann Hanyak Girovsky, Sr. Ed was raised and educated in Duquesne, PA, where he attended Duquense Elementary School and then attended high school in Homestead, PA. As a young man, he worked for U.S. Steel Company for over 11 years, and at the same time, he was also a partner in a gas station in Duquesne. Ed moved to Corry in 1958 and worked for Firestone Company which later became Foamex, Inc. He had worked there for over 30 years, retiring in the early 1990s. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by two brothers, William Girovsky and Michael Girovsky, Jr. Ed is survived by his wife, Sophie R. Sanders Girovsky, whom he married on October 5, 1957 in Corry, PA; three daughters, Diane Hall and her husband Gary of Columbus, PA, Karen Craker and her husband Bill and Jean Cressley and her husband Ted, all of Corry, PA; and a sister, Ireen Seech of Duquesne, PA. He is also survived by six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church, Corry, PA, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Regional Home Health and Hospice, 13675 Route 6, Corry, PA. 16407 or the - Corry Unit, 2115 W. 38th St., Erie, PA 16508.
