Age 75, of Longwood, Florida died peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on April 18, 2013 after a 15 year courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. A first generation American of Hungarian descent, Frank was born on September 29, 1937 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to the parents of Frank and Elizabeth Bakos. During his youth, he was an avid baseball player and fan. In 1950, he played baseball in the Little League World Series. He went on to graduate from McKeesport High School in 1955 before serving in the United States Marine Corps. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh in 1967 and has been honored as a distinguished alumnus by appointment to the Duquesne Century Club. On June 18, 1960 Frank married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Dobos Bakos. Over their 53 year marriage, they enjoyed traveling the world together. Frank began his distinguished career with Westinghouse Electric Corporation in 1956 at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory working under Admiral Rickover, Father of the Nuclear Navy. He played a major role in the startup of the Westinghouse's Penasacola Division. He held an overseas assignment in Japan working with Mitsubishi and the Westinghouse Power Company of Japan. He later became manager of commercial policy for the Water Reactor Divisions Business Unit in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Frank also managed many of Westinghouse's Divisions such as Steam Generation, Water Reactor Divisions Business Unit, Specialty Metals, Electro-Mechanical, and the Nuclear Services Integration Divsios. His more recent assignments included the Energy Systems Service Organization. His roles in these assignments were instrumental in integrating customer projects and interfacing with operating power plant customers, both nuclear and generation in the domestic and international marketplaces. Frank was elected Vice President of Westinghouse Electric Corporation in January 1989 and was President over the Power Generation Business Unit headquartered in Orlando, Florida and offices worldwide until his retirement in 1997. Frank was awarded the Westinghouse Order of Merit in 1977, has served as Chairman of the Board of ITI, a Westinghouse-Asea atom joint venture company, and also ENWESA, a Spanish-based company. He was a member of the Boards of Westinghouse Canada, the University of Central Florida Foundation, the Florida Hospital Foundation, the President's Council of Florida Hospital, and was an advisory board member of the Duquesne University School of Business. He was also a member of the Economic Development Commission of Mid-Florida and the Florida Council of 100. He has served on the boards of the Western Energy and Communications Association and the American Cancer Society. In his leisure time, Frank enjoyed spending time with his family whether it was family gatherings, dining out, singing to Frank Sinatra, or traveling the world together. He delighted in seeing his five grandchildren mature into outstanding individuals. He also loved to indulge his passion for history by reading, watching the History channel and visiting War Memorials worldwide. He always enjoyed a round of golf with a rare cigar and played at some of the most famous courses such as Pebble Beach, St. Andrews, Augusta, Kapalua, as well as many local courses. Frank is survived by his wife, Shirley Bakos of Longwood, Florida; and his two daughters; sons-in-laws and grandchildren, Stephanie Bakos Stamford and husband, Chuck Stamford of Orlando, Florida and their three children: Rachel (16), Sydney (14), and Charlie (9), Suzanne Bakos Dendy and husband, Eric Dendy of Sanford, Florida and their two children: Jordyn (9) and Lauren (8). He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Memorial and funeral service be held for Dear Frank at 11 a.m. on April 27, 2013 at BALDWIN - FAIRCHILD OAKLAWN PARK CEMETERY AND FUNERAL HOME located at 5000 County Road 46A, Sanford, FL 32771.
