CAFARELLI GAETANO GUY "BUDDY BOY"
84, or Ambridge, PA, passed in peace, surrounded by his family, friends, and loved ones at Good Samaritan Hospice, Brighton Twp., PA, on Friday, May 3, 2013. Guy was born June 28, 1928 in Introdacqua, Province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy. He was employed as a bricklayer for Bricklayers Union Local 7 in New Brighton, PA, also was self employed masonry and cement contractor. Known throughout the tri-state area for his outstanding talent as a stone mason. He was a lifelong member of the Ambridge District Sportsmen's Assoc., The Fraternal Order of Eagles and Good Samaritan Parish of Ambridge. Guy had a passion for his wine making, sausage making, and also his gardening, and very proud of his fig trees. He was also an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. Guy was most famous for his sense of humor, generosity, and his entertainment in the basement. There was never a lack of laughter when in his company. A true Good Samaritan. In addition to his parents, Augustino and Maria Volpe Cafarelli, he was preceded in death by his most precious wife, Carmen; son-in-law, David T. Barnes; a brother, Amedeo Cafarelli; and two sisters, Felicia Vallozzi and Giuseppina Iezzi of Italy. Guy was the beloved father of five children and their spouses, Mario and Sandy Cafarelli, Center Twp., Jean Barnes, Bell Acres, Tony Cafarelli, Ambridge, Mary and Garry LaSota, Hopewell Twp., Rose and Carl Filipponi, Moon Twp.; and his loving grandchildren, David Barnes, Jenna and Nick LaSota. Friends will be received Sunday from 1-5 p.m., Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of prayers at 11:30 a.m. in the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME, 830 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Noon in Good Samaritan Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Buddy Boys name be made to The Good Samaritan Annual Parish Festival, which he most enjoyed. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Heritage Valley Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospice, and the staff at Health South for all their care and kindness to Buddy Boy.
