70, of Pittsburgh, passed away on June 14, 2013, surrounded by his family, after a dignified battle with prostate cancer. Gary was charming and generous, often happiest when spending time with his friends and family. He was skilled at connecting people, both in his personal and professional life, and he had a strong laugh and an openness that he extended to all those he met in life. Gary loved the outdoors and spent a good portion of his life on the golf course, honing his prodigious skill. He enjoyed playing cards, pool, the stock market, and the Rolling Stones while driving his meticulously cared-for Porsche. After serving in the Air Force and graduating from Point Park College and Duquesne University, Gary had a distinguished career as a CPA. He began at Price Waterhouse in 1969, later moved to Rockwell International and Joy Manufacturing, and then spent more than two decades as a partner at KPMG before retiring in 2005. Gary believed strongly in giving back to the community, and served on the boards of a number of organizations, including a term as the president of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Western Pennsylvania. Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Candice Ludwig Davis; son, Craig; daughters, Leigh and Katherine; son-in-law, Kevin Arlyck; sister, Paula Frye; and nieces, Christine Surma and Bernadette Frye. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Genevieve Davis of Irwin. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Thomas M. Smith Funeral Home & Crematory Ltd., 930 Center Ave., Blawnox, PA on Tuesday, June 18, where a Service will be held on Wednesday, June 19 at 10:00 a.m. For those who wish, donations in the memory of Gary G. Davis can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
