ISABEL "TATA"
85, of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New Kensington on February 17, 1928, to the late George and Angelina Haddad Bitar and was a 1945 graduate of New Kensington High School. Isabel was an administrative assistant at ALCOA from 1945 until her marriage in 1952. She later worked with her late husband in their businesses, Joe Allen Scrap of Lower Burrell, for 30 years and their shared passion of harness racing in owning and racing Standardbred horses. Her shared passion of harness racing with her late husband resulted in two world championships with horses "Amneris" and "Keystone Harem" but her greatest passion was in raising and caring for her wonderful family. She was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church of New Kensington including the Ladies Bazbina Society and the Myrrh Bearing Society of the Church. Mrs. Allen is survived by her daughters, Angelea Mitas and her husband Bill of Lower Burrell, Toni Jo McGovern and her husband Charles R. of Monessen, Christie Marsili and her husband Tony of New Kensington, Allison Kabazie and her husband Bill of Lower Burrell; and seven grandchildren, Joseph, Galyn, Christopher, Charlie, David, Alexa and Abraham. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Abraham "Juicy" Allen on December 1, 2009; her brother, Henry "Shuff" Bitar; and sisters, Jennie Moses, Mary Abraham, Emaline Zeiler, Lillian "Lulu" Carney and Lillian Bitar, who died in infancy. Viewing will be in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, Friday, January 17, 2014, 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. where Trisagion services will be held Friday at 8:15 p.m. and Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. in St. George Orthodox Christian Church, 1150 Leishman Avenue, New Kensington.
