After 81 years, James B. "Giles" Harrington passed away peacefully, on April 2, 2014, at The Willows of Presbyterian Senior Care in Oakmont, PA. James was born on March 13, 1933, and lived in Bairdford and Arnold, PA during his early years. In the 1970s, James moved to Bethlehem, PA, where he eventually became part of the housekeeping team at St. Luke's Hospital. Despite a learning disability, James made a career in housekeeping at St. Luke's acquiring many good friends who embraced him and looked out for him along the way. His friend, "Cindy Reed," always held a special place in his heart. James retired from St. Luke's at age 64. He was extremely proud of his career and his "retirement with a pension" after 25 years of service at St. Luke's. James was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. While he loved the Steelers and Penguins, Pirate Baseball season was his favorite time of the year. He knew all of the players both past and present, including their numbers, positions and batting averages. James was preceded in death by his father, Archie Bia; and mother, Katherine Lenhart; his brother, Andrew Bia; and his sisters, Ruth Cosentino, Charlotte Bia, Maxine Koval, and Toni Bia. Visitation will be held at FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068 on Saturday and Sunday, April 5 and 6, 2014, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A short Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday evening at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, April 8, 2014. All family and friends should meet at 11:15 a.m. in Union Cemetery, 2030 Freeport Road, Arnold, PA 15068.
