Age 87, of St. Augustine, passed away on February 6, 2013 at the Bailey Center for Caring. Jim was a native and longtime resident of the Bethel Park. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. While living in Pittsburgh, Jim enjoyed a long career in real estate and sales. Jim relocated to St. Augustine in 1993. He was a longtime member of the St. Augustine Lions Club, a Melvin Jones Fellow, a lifetime member of LCI, and a Grand Lion at the Florida Lions Foundation for the Blind. He was instrumental in managing the Lions Club Eye Screening, Eye Surgery Assistance and Eyeglass Subsidy Programs for many years. Jim was also a longtime volunteer for the United Way. He was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel and Ronald Burns, a grandson, Floyd Burns. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy; a son, Bill Burns, and Michelle, of Beaver Falls, PA; sisters, Ethel Schrecengost and Carol Styslinger; a brother, Richard Burns, and his wife, Phyllis; and his grandchildren, Becky, Audra, Wesley and George Burns. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at BEINHAUER FUNERAL HOME, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317.
