JEAN (SLAUGHTER)
Age 91, beloved wife of Shirley A. "Jeff" Davis, on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Friendship Village, Upper St. Clair, PA. She was born at the Persidio in San Francisco, CA. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Brig. Gen. Willis R. and Julia Bullett Slaughter; and brother, Willis R., Jr. She is survived by Jeff, whom she married the night of his graduation from the US Naval Academy, June 9, 1943; sons, Jeffrey S. (Pat) Davis of Williamsburg, VA, John S. (Sue Gove) of Mt. Lebanon, PA; daughters, Julia B. Davis (Max Forgey) of Cape Coral, FL, and Janet B. Forton (Kevin Forton) of Pittsburgh, PA; five grandchildren, Jeffrey's sons, Scott and Kevin of Ashburn, VA, Julia's daughter, Mara of Cape Coral, FL, and Janet's daughter, Shelby of the US Air Force and son, John of Pittsburgh, PA; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Jean attended Cornell University and was an Alpha Phi. Jean and Jeff lived in many states and Spain and they loved to travel. She volunteered for many organizations. Jeff's work with US Steel brought them to Pittsburgh in 1974, where she had been a member of the Landscape Design Society of SW PA, the Rock Garden Society, the Trotwood Garden Club, the Twentieth Century Club, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Southern Club of Pittsburgh, and Women's Club of Upper St. Clair. She was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS. 724-941-3211. A Memorial Service will be held at Friendship Village on Sunday, 4 p.m. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
