John's life is recognized as that of a true American hero and gentleman. He served his country as a proud Army veteran retiree, and served his family first and foremost. John worked at Mine Safety Appliances Co. (MSA), Instrument Division as a design engineer. He started his tenure at MSA in 1960 through to his retirement in 1992. His template for life was to give and help others without expecting anything in return while acting as a gentleman in the process. John was recognized as a "Jack of all Trades" and "Master at Most of Them" and one who never took credit for the countless successes he orchestrated. He had a tireless work ethic while always finding time to have fun with family and friends. It's a tribute to him his life had an analytical basis with ingredients mixed in of deep thought, loyalty, discipline, and careful planning while finding a perfect strategic balance for times with family, friends, country, religion, work, and play. John was affectionately known and respected as everybody's "Uncle John," whether you were family or otherwise. It's no secret Uncle John's advice and wisdom was only given upon your request as you would instantly recognize you were better for it. Uncle John will be greatly missed by others who are also labeled as American heroes and gentlemen. Please visit and sign our online guestbook at:
