Peacefully, at home surrounded by his loved ones, early on the morning of February 16, 2014, John Phillip Blackburn, "Jack", age 81, of Wexford. Born on December 4, 1932, to the late Ruth and Phillip Blackburn. He was employed by Duquesne University for over 20 years and has spent the last 18 years enjoying retirement. He was a faithful friend and quick to praise others for their accomplishments. Jack was also known for his winning smile, love of Frank Sinatra music and his one-liners, which often brought laughter - but mostly groans. His many interests and activities included a lifelong passion for tennis. Early into retirement he found his way to the stage. He acted in over 30 plays, TV commercials, did print work, and had a prominent role in the TV series "Pastor Greg". Jack is survived by wife, Kathleen Blackburn and first wife, Lillian and their children, Lauren Posati (Richard), Karen Sabodish (Ken), Lisa Hall (George), Scott Blackburn, Tracy Vrana, all of Pgh. and Christine Blackburn of Los Angeles, CA; two stepchildren, Karen Balk (Marshall) and Shawn Fortney (Melanie); eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Blackburn of Spokane, WA; also survived by nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sisters, Phyllis Townsend (Chuck) and Ruth Schaffner (Gene). Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at SIMONS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 7720 Perry Hwy. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 2554 Wildwood Rd., Allison Park, PA 15101 where contributions may be made or to The American , 4 Gateway Center, 444 Liberty Ave., Pgh., PA 15222.
