Of Upper St. Clair, formerly of Clintonville, PA passed away February 17, 2013 at Friendship Village. Born September 9, 1913 in Clearfield, PA. He was the son of George B. Myers and Alma Orner Myers. He was married to Gertrude Hoffman Myers until her death in 1984, and later married Dr. Dorothy Pollack Swanson, who died in 2005. He graduated from Penn State with a BA degree in 1937 and later received a Masters in Geography from the University of Michigan
. He served as a professor of Geography at Slippery Rock University and WVU, and later became involved with city planning in Williamsport, Meadville, and Lima, Ohio. He was an Army
veteran of WWII
. He had a lifelong love of travel and had toured all of Europe and much of East Asia, Africa, and Australia. He was a talented amateur photographer and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Survived by a stepdaughter, Susan Miller (Tom) of Pittsburgh; stepson, David Swanson (Judy) of Tampa, Florida; and relatives in the Clintonville area. A private family service will take place at a later date. The Family would like to thank the staff of Friendship Village Special Care Unit for their wonderful care. LARRY E.
