On January 29, 2005, age 90, of Rockville, MD, formerly of Squirrel Hill. Wife of the late Frederick W. Bader; mother of Ellyn Bader and her husband Peter Pearson of Menlo Park, CA and Joyce Bader and her husband Thomas Endres of N. Bethesda, MD; grandmother of Molly Bader Pearson and Francesca Bader Endres; sister of the late Louise Hirsh. The Hirsh family owned and operated Globe Varnish Company for almost a century. Mrs. Bader loved antiques, literature and poetry. Mrs. Bader worked as a proofreader, editor and writer for the Jewish Observer, the University of Pittsburgh Press and Faculty newspaper and the Rodef Shalom Bulletin. As a member of Rodef Shalom Congregation and an avid gardener, Maxine was active in the development of the Biblical Botanical Garden where she volunteered and guided tours. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 8 at 11am at the BURTON L. HIRSCH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2704 Murray Avenue, Squirrel Hill (412-521-2600). Visitation one hour prior to service (10-11am). Memorial contributions may be made to the Biblical Botanical Garden, Rodef Shalom Congregation, 4905 Fifth Ave., Pgh., PA 15213
