Age 96, of Greenfield, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 13, 2014. He resided in Greenfield his entire life. He served honorably in WWII, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was retired from the Pittsburgh Board of Education, and enjoyed the music of John Gary and playing the harmonica. At 95, he was awarded his diploma from Allderdice H.S. Nicholas is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rosemarie (Calfo); and four children, Nicholas (Gail) Druga of Allison Park, Angela (Gregory) Held of Murrysville, Rosalie (Walter) Wilks of Doylestown, and Natalie Brooks (fiancé Scott Miller) of Crafton. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4, 6-8 p.m. in the EDWARD P. KANAI FUNERAL HOME, 500 Greenfield Ave. Funeral Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by Divine Liturgy in St. John Chrysostom B.C.
