Age 89, of White Oak, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Sherwood Oaks in Cranberry Township. Born August 9, 1923 in Aliquippa, PA, a daughter of the late John and Anna Drozd Dobosh and wife of the late Joseph A. Brendel. She was also preceded in death by sons, Dr. Timothy J. Brendel and Kenneth J. Brendel; sisters, Anastasia "Nellie" Corbett, Justine Drost and Mary Bruce; and brothers, Lawrence Dobosh and Joseph Dobosh. She was a graduate of St. Basil Academy in Fox Chase, PA and Duquesne University. A U.S. Marine Corps. WWII veteran, she was a founding member of St. Angela Merici Parish in White Oak, the White Oak American Legion Post # 701, the McKeesport College Club, and an active supporter of Serra Catholic High School. She is survived by sons, John S. (Janet) Brendel of Franklin Park, PA, Neal R. (Pamela) Brendel of Fox Chapel, PA, and Joseph R. (Susan) Brendel of Wexford, PA; a daughter, Maryann Brendel of Oakmont, PA; a daughter-in-law, Mary Kale Brendel; seven grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Raymond Brendel of St. Mary's, PA; nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Friday, 3-8 p.m. at the JAYCOX – JAWORSKI FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2703 O'Neil Blvd., McKeesport, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, 1 p.m. in St. Angela Merici Church with the Rev. Stephen Chervenak as celebrant. Private interment in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Baldwin, PA. The family suggests contributions to St. Angela Merici Church Building Fund, 1640 Fawcett Avenue, White Oak, PA 15131 and/or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 810 River Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15212.
