Age 64, of Wilmerding, PA, on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born on April 9, 1948 in Pitcairn, PA, son of the late Clarence and Evelina (Fontinella) Cherry. Regis was a member of St. Michael's Church, Pitcairn, where he was also the church's caretaker. He had been a volunteer for over 40 years at St. Emma's Monastery in Greensburg. He retired from Westinghouse, Co. Regis is survived by a brother, Rev. Athanasius Cherry, OSB, at St. Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at St. Emma Monastery, 1001 Harvey Avenue, Greensburg, PA 15601. A Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Emma Monastery. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent Basilica, Latrobe. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the Basilica. Interment will follow in St. Emma's Cemetery, Greensburg. Arrangements are being handled by the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME, INC., Latrobe.
