In 1946, she enrolled in Bethany College of West Virginia where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, was the editor for the school newspaper, and was a charter member of the college's Kalon Leadership Society. It was also at Bethany where she met her husband of fifty-five years, George Walter Bado. The couple wed in 1953 and settled in Pittsburgh. After her graduation from college, Sally worked as a copywriter for Gimbels Department Store. She enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh and earned her Master's Degree in Education. She then taught English at Bellevue/Northgate High School until she retired in 1993. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Sally sponsored the school newspaper, handled the district's public relations duties and sponsored the Cum Laude Honor Society. In her spare time, Sally enjoyed playing duplicate bridge, traveling, hosting parties, dining with her Friday night dinner group, spending time at the swimming pool and vacationing during the winter months in the warmer climes of Florida. Sally was preceded in death by her husband, George. She is survived by sons, Ken Bado of San Francisco, Richard Bado of Houston, and Mark Bado and wife Wendy of Kansas City, Angie Bado of Dallas, and grandchildren, Matthew, Megan, Colin, Kirkpatrick, Chandler, and Alexandria. The family desires to acknowledge and express their gratitude to the professional and dedicated staff at both the Forum at Memorial Woods and Houston Hospice. A special thank you to Sally's two loving caregivers, Winnie Hedge and Bernetta Head. A memorial service and celebration of life will be conducted at half-past one o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 17 of February, at Hiland Presbyterian Church, 845 Perry Highway in Pittsburgh.
