SAMUEL W. III
Age 79, of Emsworth, passed away July 4, 2014, at Aspinwall VA Hospital. He was born in Ambridge, November 27, 1934, to the late Elizabeth Allebach and Samuel W. Starr II. Samuel was a retired Master Sgt. in the Army, retiring in 1978 with 23 years of service. While serving in Vietnam, he was awarded the Bronze Star
among numerous other medals. Samuel then worked for the Postal Service as a carrier. He was a member of St. Stephen's Church in Sewickley, where he helped in the missions at the church. He also enjoyed fishing as a pastime. He is survived by his son, Christopher (Judy) Starr of Kennedy Twp.; a daughter-in- law, Jodi Starr of the North Hills; also seven grandchildren, Matthew, Shane, Sara, Amber, Megan, John, and Ryan; and five great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Aurora, Tora, Timothy, and Susan survive. Mr. Starr was also preceded in death by a son, John Starr; and a brother, Thomas Starr. Family will receive friends Tuesday 2-9 p.m. at the COPELAND SEWICKLEY FUNERAL HOME, 702 Beaver St. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, 405 Frederick Ave., Sewickley, PA. A reception will follow at the church until 1 p.m., followed by interment at 2 p.m. in The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full Military Honors. If desired, donations in his name to Wounded Warriors will be appreciated.
