KENNEDY TERRENCE A. "TERRY"
Terry passed away March 13, 2013 at the VA medical Center (John Cochran) in St. Louis, MO, after putting up a courageous battle with lung cancer for one year. He remained strong and stoic and never complained a day during his fight. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Kennedy; and his wife, Ellen (Bolen) Kennedy. Terry is the son of Adrian and Leona Moore Kennedy. He was born in Erie, PA June 2, 1941 and had been a long time resident of Alton, IL. Per his last wishes, Terry was cremated and no services or memorials will be held. Terry entered the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Leary (DD|DDR 879) from 1960-1962. After proudly serving his country, he then attended Penn State University. Following Penn State University, he met and married his wife, Ellen Kennedy. Recently, he had been working for Senior Services Plus of Alton, IL as a driver delivering Meals on Wheels. Terry and his wife also volunteered their time with Senior Services Plus when he wasn't delivering Meals on Wheels. During his spare time, Terry and Ellen were members of the Kiwanis Club of Wood River Township, where Terry had been a member since 1992. During his time with the Kiwanis, Terry was President of the Wood River Township Kiwanis Club and later served as Lt. Governor of Division 31 of the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Kiwanis International. Terry is survived by his sisters, Sheila Bula of Erie, PA, Charlotte Kennedy of Pittsburgh, PA, Vicki Cavanaugh (Jim) of Pittsburgh, PA; and his brother, Jeff "Jasbo" Kennedy of Erie, PA. He is also survived by his daughter, Lori Kennedy of Fayetteville, NC; son, Phillip Kennedy of Hamlet, NC; granddaughters, Tiffany Lake (Matt) of Fort Bragg, NC and Taylor Kennedy of Fairview, NC; grandson, Logan, of Fairview, NC and numerous nieces and nephews and their children to include Teague and Kennedy Urban of Pittsburgh, PA.
