94, of Beaver, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013. Born January 26, 1918 in Beaver, he was a son of the late Wilbur Agnew and Winifred Kidd Bliss, and a member of Park Presbyterian Church, Beaver. He was a 1935 graduate of Beaver High School, received his BA in Business from Geneva College, and graduated from Harvard University
with a MBA degree in 1941. A proud veteran of the US Army, he served as a Major during WWII
. He was the Vice President and later President of Kidd Drawn Steel Co., Aliquippa, and founder of Scott Bliss Ford, New Castle. He served on the Geneva College Board of Trustees, worked as the Vice President of Development, and was honored with the Geneva College "Life G" in 1989. For 15 years, he was the Director of Development for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and later worked as a consultant for Ketchum, Inc., and C. W. Shaver & Co. Scott also served on the boards of the Beaver School Board, the Medical Center Foundation, the Beaver County Industrial Development Agency, and the Beaver County Foundation. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Patterson Bliss, January 2001; by two brothers, Agnew and Sidney; and a sister, Winifred. He is survived by a son, W. Scott Bliss, Jr., Beaver; a daughter, Virginia Bliss Wolfe, Aiken, SC; three grandchildren, W. Scott (Cara) Bliss, III, West View, Hillary Swanson Bliss, New York, NY, Andrew Lowell (Lucy) Bliss, Harrisburg, PA; and one great-grandchild, Jackson Scott Bliss, Harrisburg, PA. Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 333 Third St., Beaver. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at the Park Presbyterian Church, Beaver, conducted by his pastor, Reverend Mark Boyd. Online condolences may be shared at (www.nollfuneral.com).
