WILLIAM J. "JACK"
Of Pittsburgh, age 83, on Saturday, June 7, 2014. Beloved husband of Ruth M. (Mitchell) Shaw for 52 years; also survived by his godchildren, Janice Virsack and her daughter, Shannon Avery, and Judy Virsack Winslow and her children, Aaron and Kaitlin Winslow. Jack was a veteran of the Air National Guard of Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of South Hills High School and also the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Jack retired from Union Switch and Signal as an Electrical Engineer/Manager. Jack, along with Ruth, served as a Eucharistic Minister at both Braddock Hospital and Forbes Regional Hospital. He had been an active member of U.S. Steel's volunteer group, "X-Cels", and also volunteered with INPEX, the yearly invention show in Pittsburgh. There will not be a public visitation. Friends welcome to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Maurice Church on Wednesday 11 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Braddock Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Maurice Church, 2001 Ardmore Blvd., Pgh., PA 15221 or Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Services, 1800 West St., Homestead, PA 15120. Arrangements are with PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME, East Pittsburgh, 412-824-8800.

Ruth, I am still in shock after hearing the news this morning. We had such good times with both of you in Cancun, where we met in 1985. We loved having you visit us in AZ, when Chris was born. Martha
