82, of Springdale, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with lung cancer on April 8, 2013. Born June 15, 1930 in Rossiter, PA. He was the son of the late William A. and Elva Erickson Bell. He was a graduate of Plum High School, class of 1948. After 35 years of service, he retired from Bell Telephone in 1984. Bill was a member of the Springdale United Methodist Church, Pollock Lodge F& AM and the Shriners. He achieved his professional license as an amateur radio operator (Call Sign - W3RSR) and is one of the founding members of the Skyview Radio Society in 1960. Bill enjoyed spending time at his camp in Warren, PA on the Allegheny River for the past 55 years and was an avid fly fisherman, hunter and stamp collector. Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty (Nesbit) Bell; his daughters, Karen (Bob) Sweet of Springdale, Phyllis (Joe) Demeo of Arnold, and Joyce (Kevin) Delaney of Cranberry Township. He also has five grandchildren, Carly (Luke), Joseph, Ian, Brian and Conor. He also leaves behind his beloved cousin Joyce Rumgay of Punxsutawney, PA along with numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Carl W. Bell. Family and friends will be received Wednesday and Thursday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in SPRINGDALE at the CHARLES B. JARVIE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh St. Masonic Service to be held at 7:30 Thursday night. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Springdale United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum. Memorial tributes may be made to the Springdale United Methodist Church or the Springdale Public Library.
