BRUCE LEAVITT Obituary
BRUCE R.
63, of Washington, PA, passed away Sunday evening, December 1, 2013. Bruce worked in the mining industry throughout his career in various capacities, including mining engineer, corporate environmental hydro geologist for Consol, Inc. specializing in mine flooding, mine drainage production, and more recently with Trompe Technology with mine drainage treatment projects. (See: www.osmre.gov/resources/ Trompe). Bruce was preceded in death by his sister, Cathy Mae (Leavitt) Ringey of Ferndale, Michigan. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Kathleen (Krebs) Leavitt; and his children, Rebecca (Richard) Hollerman of Murrysville, and Gregory Leavitt of Washington. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Benjamin and Samantha Hollerman. Bruce was grateful for all the loving support he received over the last two and a half years of his illness and looked forward to the salvation and redemption offered by Jesus Christ. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday in the HUMMELL & JONES FUNERAL HOME, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, Supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, Funeral Director. Additional visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., the time of funeral services, on Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, 29 North College Street, Washington, with Reverend Keith Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in the Center Church Cemetery, Peters Township. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church Building fund or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, California, 90266. Krebbies, I also just found out about Bruce from Kathy E. Rinus and I were both shocked and saddened by the news. We were just talking about you two last week, remembering "The Group" reunion here and how much we enjoyed your visits. Our deepest sympathy to you and your family.

I am so very…..very sorry…and heartbroken. My deepest care and sympathies go out to you, Rebecca and Greg. Kathleen,
I did not hear about Bruce's passing until yesterday 12/6. I worked with Bruce at Consol ... also you made our wedding cake 31 years ago. I contracted Bruce many times to speak at PA American Water and ORSANCO. Bruce has always been an inspiration to all of us, and he really had a passion to find ways to make our environment a better place. I always looked forward to our discussions on the Gateway Clipper in September.

Dear Kathleen, Rebecca and Greg, you have my deepest sympathy in the loss of your dear Father. He had quite an impact in cleaning up the streams of our area. Whenever I hear the word "Trompe" I'll think of Bruce. God bless you and keep you in the palm of His hand.
