to don and the entire ging family:
just learned about bob. i was proud to know him, and some of his siblings. he was one of the easiest guys to talk to, i remembered from the high school days.
don, i hope you will show up on the saturday after thanksgiving for our 50th reunion that i am planning.
if you want to help, please contact me! no there is no pay attached to the job!
i remember bob and terry fondly, as well as withstanding your wise cracks. i cannot believe you did not go on to take don rickles place!
as one of nine children, and the oldest boy, it was easy to enjoy the ging family.
your mom and dad (nice to know mrs ging is still with you), were obviously special people to raise a family of that size. both unselfishness and hard work made that possible.
give me a call. 814-254-9488.
you might notice i live in the laurel highlands and traveled to confluence. my older son takes his wife and two kids rafting near there.

MY sympathy to the Ging family. The loss of friends and neighbors that I grew up with, hurts. You'd never known it growing-up but Plainview Ave produced some very fine adults that it had, Bob was 1 of them. No one wants to write a condolence for anyone they've known for 60+ years, and you want to say more than Good-Bye, Bob.

Dear Ging Family,
Lee and I were so sorry to read of Bob's passing. Lee credits Bob with mentoring him in environmental law and providing him with a foundation for law practice that he has drawn on over the years of his career.
Personally, what I'd like to share is that Bob was responsible for funding our airline tickets to our honeymoon 30 years ago; possibly our most memorable gift (after the wedding)!
May your memories of Bob and your loved ones comfort you at this challenging time.
With you in fond memories,
Carri and Lee Golden

I learned so much from Bob over the years. He introduced me to trout fishing and the outdoors, The Westline Inn and many other activities and places. I only wish we could have partied one more time. To you, Bob. I raise a pint and celebrate your life.
I will miss you friend

Sympathy & kindest regards to the Ging family & many friends wherever they may be. God bless 1 & all. I remember Bob very well when we worked with the late Hpn. Judge Frederic G. Weir in the Allegheny County courts. Bob was a very thoughtful class act whom many will sorely miss.
Take care.

my deepest sympathy to all of the Ging family, my first thought when I heard that he passed took me back some forty years ago and I visualized him stroking his beard in what seem to be both contemplative thought and preparing an actionable plan. From his many accolades I now know that that posture was the embryonic stage of his well-purposed life. rest in peace brother bob.

As a young lawyer I had only one matter with Bob on the other side, but it was a significant case for our respective clients and I had the pleasure of spending quite a bit of time with Bob during the various proceedings both in and out of court. As all of the tributes that I have read this morning accurately portray, Bob was a stellar advocate for his clients and he had an encyclopedic knowledge of the law.
What I remember best, however, is the incredible personal warmth and congeniality that he always conveyed. With Bob, I learned that one can fight and fight hard, but still be civil throughout. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. I learned quite a few lessons from him and I will never forget him.
Terry, our paths have not crossed in some time, but I was very saddened to read about Bob's passing this morning and I hope you will pass my sincere condolences on to your family. Bob was a one of a kind. My glass will be raised tonight in his honor.

Bob was a special person and a special lawyer. I will miss his relentless passion for the environment and for his willingness to assist anyone in any way that he could within the bounds of the law.
He contributed much to everyone whose life he touched, including me.
I too will raise a pint and plan to step by the Westline Inn when I next am in the area. My condolences and fond memories go out to Ruth, the Ging clan, and all of his loved ones and friends.

Bob was the only one I called "mon Capitan", as he was the Captain of the Safety Patrol and I was just a Lieutenant...
I'm not sure if he forced us to call him that or not. He did speak French...or so he said...

My mom, my brothers and I are shocked and saddened to hear of Bob's passing. I only knew him when we were both kids and I was Mary Ann's friend. Reading about his life, I am sorry not to have known him as an adult. So strange that we both became lawyers! Our condolences to the entire family, and my mom sends especially heartfelt condolences to her lifelong friend Rosemary.

To Don and Family,
My sincere sympathy on the loss of your brother Bob. My last encounter was when you and I climbed down the hillside of his house on Laurel Hill Creek and went fishing. May the trout rise to greet him to thank him for his compassion to their environment.

Bob inspired us all to fight the good fight. We were working together when we discovered that we were in the nursery at McGee Women's Hospital at the same time! Our birthdays are three days apart. He said it's a small world.
On our way to hearings he played the theme from The Lone Ranger.
Our deepest sympathies at the loss of a truly unique protector.

Bob was a good friend and confidante and I miss our discussions about conservation, politics and fishing very much. Bob and I worked on a number of important environmental cases over the years and I will remember his intelligence, court room savvy, enthusiasm, wit and most importantly his passion as motivators until we see each other again in some other place. I will raise a glass in Bob's honor around a campfire somewhere this holiday weekend in memory of our good friend. I have a partial bottle of cognac that Bob left at my place in Lamar from his visit. I guess it is about time to finish it. Until later my friend. John Arway

As a member of the Ressi Class of 64, I have many memories of Bob. We took violin lessons together in first grade. We were in the same class for all 8 years. I always considered him my friend. I read about his works with the legal side of environmental concerns. Good for you, Bob. My hugs to all in his life.

It has been several decades since I last spent time with Bob, but I remember him well. He was tireless in his pursuit of the despoilers of the environment. He was one of the old guard of the activists from the 70s I will never forget.
May his spirit and memory dwell long on this Earth he so loved.

It is with a heavy heart that we "raise a pint in celebration of his life", as was his wish! My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his beloved family.
May the warm winds of heaven blow softly upon your house. May the Great Spirit bless all who enter there. May your moccasins make happy tracks in many snows, and may the rainbow always touch your shoulder. [American Indian Cherokee Blessing]
