In 1943 he enlisted in the US Army Air Force, serving in the European Theatre as a radar mechanic and receiving his honorable discharge in 1946. He attended Amherst College and graduated in 1952. An accomplished sailor, he was an active member of the South Hills Power Squadron, an organization dedicated to promoting boating safety. During his retirement, he performed onstage for several community theaters, including the Heritage Players of the Bethel Park Community Center, McCaffery Mysteries, and Actors Civic Theater. I had the pleasure of acting with David in several McCafferty Mystery productions. He was such a good, kind man with a great sense of humor. My prayers to your family. He will be deeply missed.

Julie: I worked w/ Dave for many years at Bettis and just found out about his passing via Bill Delor to Marcy Perry to Judy Smitley (Bill and Judy also worked w/ Dave). I remember that he was always passionate about sailing; one of his many joys in life. He was ever the optimistic spirit. Hope you come through in good spirits also; will light a candle and say a prayer in Dave's memory; not feeling well enough to attend tomorrow's ceremony; still mourning Emily's passing last October. Time, though, will eventually heal all wounds
